Ngabo Wa Ganza is a contemporary sculptor and Filmmaker based in Rwanda, known for his use of papier-mâché and plaster as medium, touching on historical themes, giving image to local oral traditions and practices, aiming to build a conversation about their role in the present.
As a sculptor, his journey began in 2023 as part of a group exhibition. His works combine various materials, including sisal fibers and shoe polish, conceived with painting techniques such as pouring, fading the colour of a brown shoe polish, and the texture and sheen of a glaze.
As a filmmaker, he made his debut with his first short film, FISH BOWL, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2020 and was later selected and screened at other festivals such as the Uppsala Short Film Festival 2020, Festival du Nouveau Cinema 2020, Festival de Cine Africano de Tarifa 2021, among others.
